Scam Companies

Unfortunately there are a lot of illegal companies/recruiters out there especially here in Metro Manila. I advise due caution when applying for jobs especially those that plan to work abroad. Here are certain things to remember:

1. No Money Involved. The company/agency should not be asking you to pay any fees related to you being processed or being employed for a certain job. Be wary of those that would ask for medical examination fees, health insurance fees and the like even though there’s still no official job or you haven’t signed any official employment contract
2. Check the legitimacy of the company/agency. Normally when you enter the premises of the company/agency or on the reception area, you should immediately see the different licenses or permits for them to operate like their business permit, BIR registration and the like. If you are unsure if the company is legal, you may use the following government websites (Securities & Exchange CommissionDepartment of Labor & EmploymentPhilippine Overseas Employment Administration)  to check if the said institution is duly licensed by the government or not.
